DU30 armchair by Poltrona Frau

DU30 is the most famous piece of furniture designed by Gastone Rinaldi in the 50s; in 1954 it was awarded the prestigious Golden Compass prize.

The DU30 was immediately patented and appeared on the cover of the first issue of the magazine Stile Industria in June 1954. Its shape is highly appealing with its high backrest that gives rise to a cut-central seam that cannot fail to recall the precious oeuvres of Lucio Fontana.
The DU30 armchair consists of a single shell in molded steel mesh with polyurethane foam obtained from the mold. Its legs are in curved, welded tubular steel and painted black with textured wrinkle finish (BLACK RAL 9005).

Its upholstery is Pelle Frau leather, while the shell is screwed directly to each pair of legs.
