For its 2021 collections, the Riva 1920 brand has presented a sophisticated total black finish, a brand new variant available for its oak veneer surfaces.

The choice to use black for a number of iconic products stems from a desire to convey elegance and modernity at the same time. The manufacturing process used to obtain this finish requires great attention to detail and employs the skills of highly qualified, expert craftsmen: first of all we have to brush the wood and apply the first of many coatings of pigmented oil.

At this point, the veneer of Riva 1920 furniture with a total black finish is sanded and treated again with natural oils. This lengthy, cyclical process ends with the application of a special protective wax to preserve its pigmentation.

This total black oak finish is a perfect combination with furnishings such as: Ada, the low glass cabinet with smoked glass doors and a retro taste; Diamond, the hexagonal-based stool by designer Giovanni Tommasini; Sequoia, the sofa by designer Cengiz Civan whose black frame enhances the texture of the fabrics.
