BB chair obtained the Honorable Mention Award at the XXII edition of the Compasso d'Oro.
BB chair by Riccardo Blumer and Matteo Borghi obtained the Honorable Mention Award at the XXII edition of the Compasso d'Oro.
Established in 1954 from an idea by Gio Ponti, the ADI Compasso d'Oro Award is the oldest but, above all, the world's most authoritative design award.
Every 3 years the selected products inserted in the ADI Design Index are evaluated by an international jury composed of distinguished leaders and experts in the world of design, architecture and culture, whose task is to assign the Compasso d'Oro Award and the Honorable Mentions.
On 12th July, during the Awards Ceremony at La Pelandra, Museo Macro al Testaccio, at the presence of the Authority, members of the ADI, the ADI Foundation, the Foundation Valore Italia, the press and public the chair of the BB was awarded with the Honorable Mention.
"BB is a chair constructed with curves and hands. Leather and the lack of any internal metal frame restored free bodily sensuality to the material. Working with Matteo Borghi, we shaped its design; its sides, seat, thighs and back slipped through our hands as we searched for those geometric structural joints which make the female body an expression of absolute sensual beauty. Brigitte Bardot embodied this with great purity, before lapsing into vulgarity. We apologize for not being able to copy her."
