Archibald armchair by Poltrona Frau turns 10 this year
17/05/2019
It was 2009 when designer Jean-Marie Massaud drew the first pencil sketches on paper of Archibald, the iconic armchair for Poltrona Frau that, even today, is among the most popular items in the Italian brand's collection.
As evidence of this success, that same year the iconic Archibald chair received the prestigious Wallpaper*Award in the "Best Domestic Design" section and, above all, huge international acclaim from the public at large.
Among the many strengths that make the Archibald dining chair a timeless bestseller there is certainly a sartorial touch that is evident in every detail, like the sumptuous folds on the inside of the backrest upholstered in leather, a distinguishing feature among all the other items in the Archibald range.
The leather, beautifully rippled, is embellished, along the edges and on the outer surface of the upholstery, by precious contrast stitching that discreetly and skillfully underlines the curved line of the back and profiles, elevating Archibald to the undisputed lynchpin of the living area.
Moreover, in these last 10 years, many different and interesting design variants have been added to the Archibald family thus ensuring its suitability for all kinds of furnishing contexts and styles.
Whether fitted with a higher or more enveloping backrest, be it the generous Gran Comfort and, this year, even the newly-added elegant armchair, we can say that the Archibald series is really "true to form" on its important 10-year anniversary, once again, confirming its absolute exclusivity.
