Riva1920 is present at the Venice Biennale

Riva1920 furnishings are present at "Arcipelago Italia. Projects for the future of the country's interior territories", the title of the Italian Pavilion at the 16th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale.
Curated by Mario Cucinella, the project focuses its attention on the urban space that runs along the Italian ridge, from the Alpine Arch, along the Apennines, up to the Mediterranean, focusing on the role that contemporary architecture can play within urban centres far removed from the big cities and often perceived as marginal places to pass through momentarily.
The Italian Pavilion showcases an itinerary with a hundred stages suggested by small, high quality architectural projects, all realized in recent years and resulting from a call made by the curator, in complete harmony between architecture and landscape.
The aim of the Italian Pavilion is to underscore the existing dialogue, with examples taken from history, between these finest architectural examples and the excellences that our country has produced over the centuries, such as villages, nature parks of inestimable value, hiking trails, walking paths and cycle routes.
Riva 1920 is present with some of its most iconic pieces reflecting its values of natural beauty and environmental sustainability, which it expresses through the use of all-natural glues, waxes and oils, all combined with a sustainable design that focuses on reused wood as the Briccole and the fragrant cedar of Lebanon.
Among these kind of furnishings are the Arcipelago tables system, which includes five islands with sinuous shapes impressed in the wood that cover a total area of 246 square meters, with over 13 cubic meters of raw material used. The cedar of Lebanon was used for the tops, while the 321 legs are supported by Briccola wood; these being oak or holm-oak stakes embedded in the Venetian lagoon, which serve to guide the boats and signal the tides.
Nature then is the true protagonist of this imaginary journey across the whole of Italy, running along its ridge from the Alps to the Apennines, and down to the Mediterranean through an evocative, sensorial and cedar-scented experience.
