Ren collection by Poltrona Frau wins EDIDA 2017 award

After receiving one of the NYCxDESIGN Awards in June 2016, and winning the Wallpaper* Design Awards 2017 in January 2017, designer duo Neri and Hu have picked up another award, namely, the EDIDA 2017 (Elle Deco International Design Awards) in the "Furniture" section.
Launched in 2016 with accessories designed for different areas of the house, the Ren collection grew to include new pieces ahead of the Salone del Mobile 2017, e.g. an armchair, a sofa, a bookcase, a magazine rack and a table mirror.
The collection takes its name from the Chinese "ren" character for person, human being, and each item reproduces this symbol that appeared on ancient Chinese oracle bones used for divination purposes.
This archaic symbol consists of two simple strokes, a pictorial representation of the human figure. The longer stroke sticks out slightly and is supported by the shorter stroke. The two elements depend on each other for their stability.
This mutual relationship perfectly represents the architectural construct of every item in the collection. Each piece consists of two "ren", which make up the main structure in Canaletto walnut solid wood and together support the secondary structures, also in wood.
Exclusive, brass details add a precious touch to the overall design.
