Artemide has once again received the Red Dot Award, one of the most important international awards in design, for its innovative excellence and the aesthetic value of its products.
This year, Artemide received an astonishing five awards for the exclusivity of its lamps.
The Red Dot award for the Best of the Best category went to Ameluna, developed in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Style, and Alphabet of Light, the project signed by architectural studio BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group.
Ameluna is a dynamic light with a uniquely high tech intelligence. Born from the partnership between two leaders in their respective fields, it represents a union of different skills in designing new synergies, combining beauty and innovation through pure and transparent forms.
Alphabet of Light is a modular system of light elements that allows you to create an exclusive font of light enriched with words and symbols, starting from only a few basic modules
The Red Dot award for High Design Quality went to Discovery, designed by Ernesto Gismondi, Olmo by Giulio Iacchetti, and Les Danseuses by Atelier Oi.
Discovery is a lighting system based on a minimal geometry: the project centers around an ultra-light aluminium rim that hosts a LED strip injecting light into a clear, ultra-modern PMMA surface.
Olmo is based on the combination of simple optical and mechanical components that create striking light effects.
Finally, Les Danseuses is a suspension lamp inspired by Dervish dancing: the lampshade brings form and substance to the regular undulations formed in space with a precise rhythm, as if it were a luminous dancer's body.
Ameluna, Aphabet of Light, Discovery, Olmo and Les Danseuses will all be exhibits at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany.
