Cala armchair by Kettal wins EDIDA 2017 award

Cala, the wicker armchair designed for Kettal by Doshi Levien, has won the Edida (Elle Deco International Design Awards) award assigned by Elle Decor, the famous design magazine.

Cala was inspired by the outdoor wicker chair in 'Emmanuelle', the unforgettable French film from the 1970s, and represents a perfect balance between sensuality and tradition.

With its vaguely colonial style, Cala stands out especially for its wide and welcoming backrest.

This, in turn, is supported by an aluminium structure that is covered, not by chance, in a special rope weave that is designed to provide a sort of latticed, grated window.

The latter is a clue that leads us to the project's genesis: a challenge for visual privacy whilst maintaining a connection to the environment.
