New Pilot swivel chair by Knoll
07/03/2017
Knoll has launched an innovative swivel chair designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby of the London design studio Barber & Osgerby.
This is the third collaboration between Knoll and the British design team, who have already created the iconic Lounge Collection (2014) and the Piton (2015) table and stool ensemble.
The new lounge chair is Pilot, a sophisticated modern chair that is equally suited for the home or office.
With its striking, slim profile, the chair features a cast-aluminum structure that links the crane-neck, 360-degree swivel base to the assembly of the seat and back.
At first glance, this creates the impression the cantilevered seat is almost floating in thin air: indeed, the sub-frame supporting the seat is so thin as to confer an incredible lightness to it.
This feature also bestows greater flexibility, enhanced by a unique silhouette and a clean and simple design.
Pilot is available in both high and low back versions as well as a range of leather and fabric upholstery options.
In fact, by simply changing the upholstery or armrest finishes, available in steel or upholstered, Pilot becomes an endlessly customizable chair that can be completely overhauled in both image and function.
In short, it is a versatile lounge chair that represent a perfect blend of elegant design, comfort, exclusive materials and craftsmanship, and that sums up perfectly the innovative and original spirit of its creators.
