16/02/2017
Artemide has won the iF Product Design Award 2017 prize, a historic award, created in 1953 and acknowledged as a mark of quality bestowed on the best international projects selected by a jury of over 60 experts for design excellence.
The award went to Ameluna - a project born from the partnership between Artemide and Mercedes-Benz Style; Discovery - a system signed by Ernesto Gismondi; and Unterlinden, the suspension light designed by Herzog & de Meuron.
Ameluna is a light whose high tech intelligence is expressed not only in innovative optoelectronics, but also in the ability to relate with the environment in a digitally functional dialogue.
Artemide and Mercedes-Benz Style have combined their skills to design a project that combines beauty and intelligence through a pure and transparent form, an expression of high quality industrial and innovative vision of the project.
Next, the Discovery system is an expression of a deep understanding of light and its perceptual qualities. Defined by its essential geometry, Discovery is basically an ultra-thin, lightweight aluminum ring that was created along the same principle as bicycles. The result is an almost invisible light.
Finally, Unterlinden is a small hanging lamp that combines the ultimate LED optical efficiency with the material expression of aluminum or brass, materials constituting the lamp's body. The outcome is a valuable piece of design that combines the aesthetic appeal of an object of yesteryear with a high-tech lighting and value.
Many Artemide products have won this award over the years, and this is a further confirmation of Artemide's international reputation acknowledged as the finest example of world-class Italian design.
Ameluna, Discovery and Unterlinden are products that express technology and aesthetic appeal, and demonstrate Artemide's unrivaled skill in creating intelligent innovative, and exciting lighting solutions.
