Pilastro stool by Kartell

Among the most interesting pieces of the Kartell collection is definitely the Pilastro stool, part of the "Kartell goes Sottsass - A Tribute to Memphis" collection, launched in 2015 in homage to design guru Ettore Sottsass, who passed away in 2007.

A famed Italian architect, designer and photographer, Sottsass viewed design as a tool of social criticism, thus anticipating, in the form of contemporary art, the core beliefs of what became the great period of the youth protest movement.

Pilastro, which comes in five opaque tones (red, lilac, purple, green and black), is made from mass-coloured thermoplastic technopolymer.

Its distinguishing feature is mainly the lines that define it, making it stand out with their clear architectural inspiration.
