Kartell takes part in the Ducal Salon project at Milan's Mudec museum

Kartell took part in a project born from the collaboration between Maori artist George Nuku, the Kartell Museum and Mudec (Museum of Cultures of Milan).
The project came to fruition in the exhibition known as "Ducal Salon", a room furnished with Kartell furniture finely sculpted by the artist using traditional Maori carving techniques and forms, which was on show to the public until the first week of October 2016.
The installation was put together with the aim of recreating the extraordinary room of a fictional Milanese noble palace, adorned with twenty-five pieces of Kartell furniture and accessories donated by the company and some Plexiglas sculptures by the artist.
Expertly crafted by Nuku, the 25 furniture pieces seemed to blend two styles in particular - Rococo and Maori - in a bid to create truly unique projects, characterized by amazingly graceful shapes wholly inspired by nature.
Further enhanced by the classiness of Kartell's archetypal clear plastic material that typifies its creations, all the pieces on display reaped a huge success.
On the evening of Thursday, October 13, at the end of the Ducal Salon exhibition, all the Kartell furniture pieces and the artist's sculptures were sold at an auction conducted by Sotheby's in the Mudec grounds.
The proceeds were donated to Mudec for projects intended to the furthering of its cultural objectives and the enhancement of its collections.
