Etihad Airways wins Crystal Cabin Award 2016 thanks to Poltrona Frau upholstered seats
17/05/2016
Etihad Airways, a flag carrier airline of the United Arab Emirates, has won the coveted 2016 Crystal Cabin Award in the new 'Cabin Concepts' category for its Boeing 787 First Class cabin, featuring the airline's new First Suites, whose seats are upholstered in fine Italian leather from Poltrona Frau.
Each First Suite is fitted out with a fully customisable seat that converts into a 204 centimetre fully-flat bed offering guests a level of comfort, space and privacy that is second to none.
Also, the bed features the advanced Lantal pneumatic comfort system, whose key components are air-filled cushions that totally replace foams. Pressure is distributed across multiple chambers to maximize passenger comfort, so that both in the sitting and lie-flat positions, the Pneumatic Comfort System automatically adjusts itself.
The result is that even the most tiring long-distance flights can become extremely comfortable with this innovative type of seats.
The Crystal Cabin Award is the only international award recognising excellence in aircraft interior innovation.
The international judging panel is made up of more than 20 academics, engineers, representatives of aircraft manufacturers and airlines, as well as journalists specialising in the field of aircraft interior design.
