ADI (Association for Industrial Design) has organized an interesting initiative to explain the various aspects of design in the city of Milan, presenting the public with a set of routes criss-crossing through the city and its surroundings
The happening is called "Le vie del Compasso d'oro" (The pathways of the Golden Compass), hosted by ADI Lombardia with the aim to accompany visitors of the XXI Triennale on a path to discover the winning projects selected during the sixty years of "Compasso d'Oro ADI" Award. These projects have surely marked the history of design and still today are capable of arousing wonder and reflections on how design can improve our daily lives.
One of the brands to have received the prestigious award is naturally Poltrona Frau, which contributed to the initiative with its two winning projects on display at its Milan showroom for the entire duration of the XXI Triennial.
One is the iconic DU30 chair designed by Gastone Rinaldi in 1953, a recipient of the Compasso d'Oro-Rinascente Award in its first edition in 1954; the other is the famous Titano table by Pierluigi Cerri, winner of the Compasso d'Oro award in 2001.
DU30 still remains today one of the most famous pieces ever designed by Gastone Rinaldi while the Titano belongs to the permanent collection at the Poltrona Frau Museum in Tolentino.
All in all, two really unique pieces that are definitely worth checking out, especially while they are on display to the general public.
