As a way of celebrating the 90 years of Italy's famous Enciclopedia Treccani, sculptor Mimmo Paladino has created the statue "La Conoscenza" (Knowledge) that was unveiled at Expo Milano 2015. The famed furniture-maker Riva 1920 also contributed to the artwork. Designed by Michele De Lucchi, the wooden base was commissioned to the famed woodworking hands of Riva 1920. Indeed, thanks to its widely recognized technical know-how and skills in working with solid wood, the base was constructed in Riva 1920's own carpentry workshops.
The statue can be admired by all Expo Milano visitors at il Padiglione Zero, in the outdoor section, where it was placed after the opening ceremony attended also by Single Expo Commissioner, Giuseppe Sala, who spoke of the event as follows: "The exhibition grounds are is continually evolving and Mimmo Paladino's masterpiece is a further enrichment to the site. We are proud to be able to accommodate this oeuvre, also because culture has found its abode at the Universal Exhibition, seeing that from the very end of July Padiglione Zero will host a series of prestigious open-air theater shows."
